The Davis Cup is the international team event in men tennis. The largest annual international team competition in sports, the Davis Cup is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested between teams of players from competing countries in a knock-out format. The 2008 Davis Cup is the 97th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. Sixteen teams will participate in the World Group and more than one hundred other will take part in different regional groups.

The 2008 Davis Cup World Group Final will Argentina vs Spain. This is the third meeting between the two nations. Spain has won both previous matches, played on outdoor clay in Spain. Spain defeated Argentina 3-1 in a 1926 zonal quarterfinal and more recently Carlos Moya clinched the decisive fifth rubber for a 3-2 victory in the 2003 quarterfinal after Argentina had fought back from 0-2 down.
